Hacking TV

Lots of interesting comments on CrunchyRoll (/sliver tv concept) in this episode of HackingTV
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/steve-rosenbaum/hacking-tv-episode-017_b_8574808.html

Sadly for me what they are explaining is exactly what Akimbo TV was proposing to deliver which is why I was so enthusiastic about being involved……lol now ancient history never to be seen again.

Post production product placement

Thought some of you would like this J

Product placement generating more profitability from the "reuse of content opportunities". Any additional dollar makes a difference, great to see studios jumping on this opportunity.

I'd like to talk to anyone offering these kinds of services.

ATP in Redfern is closing.... :(

The Commonwealth Bank is closing three Sydney sites and moving 10,000 staff to Redfern
- http://www.businessinsider.com.au/the-commonwealth-bank-is-closing-three-sydney-sites-and-moving-10000-staff-to-redfern-2015-11

Between the closure of the ATP and the ballsup with the NBN implementation......there is almost no reason for startups to stay in Sydney anymore.
Anyone looking to relocate themselves to NY feel free to get in contact at www.Cognation.net/Profile  so you can hit the ground running.
Lets face it unless you are going to live in Nowra/Orange or Newcastle the costs of living here arent all that much more compared to Sydney (albeit smaller spaces) and you have the advantages of venture capitalists who havent forgotton that the V in VC stands for Venture and not "investment banking" after you've already proven your model.

BI comparison

How Business Insider’s Sale Price Stacks Up
http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2015/09/29/how-business-insiders-sale-price-stacks-up/

I'm not sure I'd put BI in the same league as NYT and Boston Globe etc but congrats to the founders.

Shows that with time and hard work that Venture Capital (notice the capital V for 'venture' eg has risk and not ‘safe as banks investment capital’) can make good returns for both founders and investors.

Cheers,
Dean

Social Media Photo Branding Rights

The irony that no one in this article is pointing out that by posting on Instagram/social media there  is no need for them to seek your permission as they aren't 'copying" the photo just embedding your photo.

Robin "the cloud based android phone"

"Nothing excited me in mobile in the past few years," Tom Moss says, leaning back in an office chair. Far as he's concerned, smartphone makers -- especially those working with Android — have spent way too much time crafting hardware and not nearly enough effort on innovating software. That's why, when the bug to build something new bit again, Moss gathered an Android dream team to build a "cloud-first" smartphone called Robin.

Its an interesting idea- I'm actually surprised people aren't tying handsets to "cloud based cpu's" yet.

This was one of the concepts Cognation and Mexuar were looking to deploy on the SavaJe mobile OS in 2006.

Removing the device from the "services" we felt was the key to leapfrogging Moores Law permanently.
