I've often wondered why we dont see more games like Mogi Mogi developed over the years - http://blog.collins.net.pr/2006/07/do-you-mogi-mogi.html  

I know about Ingress but you just think with mobile apps this would be a natural format.

Will be interesting to see if this is a category breakout.
